So far, I've tried:

1. hsqldb and it doesn't work, apparently because the downloaded version is compiled to JDK 1.4. So far I've been unable figure out what commands to give "ant" to compile it to JDK 1.3.1. So I tried:

2. mysql with JDBC, and that doesn't work, for reasons that are still unclear, but under discussion in that thread.

I'm beginning to feel like poor old Wile E. Anyone got anything that they know does work?

PostgreSQL works. I have had it working with 7.4.x on a Mac OS X server and it works with 7.2.1 on a clients intranet.

Cheers
