Hi,
When I try to use the spellcheck function, I get this message:
"Error executing the spellcheck:
Norwegian (Bokmål) is not supported by the spellcheck funktion or is not presently active. Please check your installation and, if necessary, install the required language module or activate ut under 'Tools - Options - Language Settings - Writing Aids'.. "
But the only language modules available are the English ones (plenty of them). I have installed the right language module,
and I've updated with Patch 8. But NeoOffice doesn't seem to find the installed languages.
Best regards,
Knut
P.S. Thanks for the brilliant work on NeoOffice, I have been using it for all my work since the alpha last fall - and even the alpha hardly crashed ever...
Unfotunately, many languages (like Norwegian) do not have spellcheck support. This is because the localized labels in the language packs are created by Sun Microsystems and are, therefore, complete. However, the spellcheck files are created by volunteers so many languages are missing or incomplete.

There is a OOo Norwegian native language project that has made local versions (Win, Linux and Solaris) and spellcheck for both the Norwegian (two) languages. Does this help me? Can the spellchecker from OOo be used with NeoO?

I do recall there being local dics for Norweigan, but I believe they were GPLd or some other license and weren't on the main OOo servers. If you can find the dictionary files and then follow the manual installation procedures for other platforms they should work with NeoJ. NeoJ uses the same spelling framework as was developed for OpenOffice.org on other platforms. Anything that can work with OOo spelling on other platforms should in theory work with NeoJ.
I believe Patrick's referring to several of the third-party spelling tools that Sun and others use. Any of those closed source tools will not work with NeoJ, unfortunately. I think they're still in use due to the L&H license terms.
