Yeah, the database article is really a mess Sad

Especially since that was one of the things where a core part of the instructions changed for 1.2 Alpha, and we're trying to keep articles correct for both 1.1 and 1.2 for a while....

Perhaps you can put in a permanent link to an old revision this is good for 1.1 (this should be possible in MediaWiki 1.5 IIRC).

best wishes,
Oscar

unfortunately it is looking like more and more we will need to separate 1.1 and 1.2 articles. i do not think we should get rid of the older 1.1 articles, but just move them to a more 'legacy' stasis.

neo1.1 was so good, i have a feeling people will be using it for a long time.

In some articles, there's only one section or a couple of paragaphs that are 1.1-specific/different, so it's not a big issue to move those sections/pgs to a slightly-separate place (end) and note that the steps changed and 1.1 steps are in the later pgh.

The real problem so far is this mySQL article, which was a mess to begin with. What I think we need to do with it is do one of those sidebar boxes and have a database meta-article.

* Intro
* Configuring mySQLwith 1.1 (JDBC and Connector/J < 3.1) - overview and detailed steps
* Configuring with 1.2 (JDBC and Connector/J 3.1 or >) - overview and detailed steps
* Configuring mySQL with OBDC (fill in from linked forum thread)
* Configuring hsqldb (fill in from linked forum thread)
* Setting up the built-in database (dbase) (Max's article)
* Using a Calc sheet (create this new one)
* Using your database with Neo (get some tips from fabrizio some day)

And clean up the whole mess of them.

And just list the "intro to databases" page on the Tips page.

Smokey

Your English can easily be edited afterwards Wink The rest of us can't get the information out of your brain and into the wiki, though Smile

Anything you can add about forms, when you get a chance, will be greatly appreciated.
