Resources to Add.

I found the complete listing of Bruce ByField's articles about OOo. http://members.axion.net/~bbyfield/ooo.html
Many I have recommented before,
    Configuring OpenOffice.org Writer
What New Users Need to Know About OpenOffice.org
11 Tips for Moving to OpenOffice.org

Setting Up Page Styles in OOo Writer
    Style Is Everything, Right?
and this list includes a few new ones like
    Back to School with Bibliographies
ToCs, Indexes and Bibliographies in OOo Writer
Sharing Files Between OpenOffice.org and MS Office
Fielding Questions, Part 4 - Mail Merges
That's Your Version: Version Control in OpenOffice.org
and MUCH MORE.

I had not seen the articles about Bibliographies before - interesting reading.

NEW Neo Resources catagory - NEO extensions and such:

- Iconic.....
- Other Icons the Valter listed ?
- NOMu
- New Neo Users Book, and User Guide!

Looks like there is a growing number of ... addons for our little Neo! (I'm so ... proud Cool )

Yes, I know - Neo Developers can't provide ANY support for items they do not release.
Your Mileage May Vary, Don't run with sharp objects, items for your own personal use only, etc Rolling Eyes

exhausted? Shocked

I thought Mystic Wiki Elves worked Day, and Night, and never needed sleep, or rest?
They can do ALL things in a ... blink of a eye.
What's next? Someone telling me "I can't grow up to be Santa?" Crying or Very sad

The Wiki Elves should take all the rest they need.
Questions will still be here when they return to the Neo community.
Their efforts are much appreciated - around the world!

I added the paths to the user's pref folders (autotext, templates, autocorrection, databases, etc) in the French article Récupérer les
Configurations Personnelles dans un Dossier de Préférences Endommagé
and the same paths are translated in comments in the English page.

(Philip's request…)

Thanks, Jacqueline!!!

I added one more path (for uno packages created when downloading extensions from OxygenOffice Professional), and a section on importing 2.0 preferences to 2.1.

Two remarks:

1) The path for keyboard shortcuts is the French one.
There is a "fr" folder between "accelerator" and "current.xml".
Thus you have to update that in the En version.

2) I'm not sure that saving the folder "uno_packages" that you indicate is sufficient. I think that the whole folder "cache" should be saved.

Given that extensions are installed by some process, it's possible that you don't want to copy them across at all (because some parts get installed/configured/etc. in files elsewhere in the preferences hierarchy, and won't work if all the disparate parts are not copied over) but to reinstall them.

I haven't tried with any of the new-style .oxt extensions, but I did run into this problem in the past with at least one UNO package....

I agree with you Smokey, it's better to save the .zip or .oxt files and to reinstall them using the Extensions manager. I tried to move and replace the "cache" folder and only one of the four extensions I've added seems to be working without a reinstallation.

Thanks for the input. My only experience with extensions has been the OxygenOffice templates, etc., and I've been able to muck around in those folders a fair amount to rearrange the templates into more meaningful categories. But that all happened after I installed 2.1

I have corrected the "fr" folder issue, added a note about finding keyboard shortcuts for other modules, and (hopefully) written a more accurate paragraph about handling extensions.

WOW, Shocked
Thanks Lorinda, Jacqueline, Smokey,

The new additions are ... AMAZING.
I was looking for just a few hints and I see lots of details, AND some warnings! Rolling Eyes
Having this information "should" be a GREAT help in the future. I have not seen this much information for most other Office Suites.
For those users who are ... Adventurous, these details will allow them to fine tune their Preferences. Use at your own risk - YMMV

Philip:

Did you have a particular page in mind to which we should add the references/sites you listed above?

Were you thinking of the Support page, or somewhere else?
