There's a font kerning problem in Impress. Steps to reproduce:
  1. Make new (empty) presentation
  2. enter "AB,CD" in a textframe
  3. select "B,CD"
  4. apply subscript to selection (e.g. command+shift+B)
  5. click outside textframe
I'm using NeoOffice 3.1.1 patch 2 on Intel OS X 10.6.4.

What you are seeing is a symptom of bug 3578 which has already been fixed in the following test patch.

Can you install the test patch and tell us if the subscript problem is fixed for you?:

I installed the patch but unfortunately it does not fix the problem for me.

OK. I can reproduce this. For me, the kerning is correct when you have the text frame in edit mode and when I first tried your steps, I did not notice that the subscript characters "crunch together" when I clicked outside of the text frame.

I can reproduce this bug in my Go-oo build but not in OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 so this appears to be a bug in one of the OpenOffice.org code modifications made by Novell's Go-oo engineers.

I will investigate this bug to determine which Go-oo code modification causes this bug. Once I find the code modification and remove it, I will post a test patch for you to try.

I have created bug 3634 to track this issue.

I think that I have found the Go-oo code modification that causes this bug and I have removed their code modification in the following test patch.

Can you install the test patch and tell us if the subscript problem is fixed for you?:

FYI. The fix for this bug has been included in NeoOffice 3.1.2 which can download it from the NeoOffice download page.
